A Symbol of Pride, History, and Heritage

This is my original rendition of the Black American Heritage Flag - a design first raised at Newark City Hall on March 5, 1967, created by Melvin Charles and Gleason T. Jackson. The flag was born from a simple but powerful idea: that Black Americans deserved a symbol of their own to carry, one that honored their history and looked forward with hope.

Each element of the design carries meaning. The diagonal black stripe represents pride in Black identity and heritage. The red stripes honor the sacrifice and bloodshed endured in the pursuit of freedom, justice, and dignity. At the center, a blunted sword surrounded by a golden fig wreath symbolizes strength tempered by peace - prosperity, intellect, and everlasting life.

This piece is my interpretation of that history, reproduced as a museum-quality fine art print. It's made to order on your choice of two premium papers, so you can pick the finish that best fits your space and style.

Choose Your Paper

$20 | LexJet Premium Archival Matte (230gsm) - A smooth, neutral-white matte paper built for crisp detail and accurate color. Acid-free construction protects the print for the long term. A clean, contemporary choice that works well framed or unframed.

$30 | Moab Entrada Rag Natural Cold Press (300gsm) - A heavyweight, textured watercolor-style paper in a warm natural white. The tactile surface adds depth and a fine-art gallery feel, elevating the piece beyond a standard photo print.

Every print is made specifically for your order - please allow standard processing time before it ships.
